At EPAM, the Solution/Enterprise/Lead Architect – Application Engineering role blends the responsibilities of technology leadership with strategic client partnership. You'll shape solution direction, govern architectural standards, and run large-scale managed services programs. Working directly alongside CXO-level executives, you'll help define transformation pathways while providing guidance and mentorship to architecture and engineering teams striving for excellence.
Responsibilities
- Establish ownership over solution strategy for expansive digital transformation and managed services initiatives
- Chart multi-year technology direction, including modern platform design and operational models
- Confirm that solutions deliver on scalability, resilience, cost efficiency, and business alignment
- Design and supervise extensive managed services programs, spanning application management, cloud operations, and platform engineering
- Set SLAs, governance structures, performance tracking systems, and frameworks for ongoing improvement
- Drive operational excellence by embedding automation, AI/GenAI, and DevOps methodologies
- Remain actively engaged in architecture work, proof-of-concept development, and technology evaluation
- Head up technical due diligence efforts, solution evaluations, and modernization planning
- Champion innovative approaches, including cloud-native design, microservices, event-driven systems, and AI/GenAI-powered solutions
- Serve as a dependable advisor to CIOs, CTOs, and other C-suite leaders
- Connect business vision with technical execution by presenting well-defined roadmaps and supporting business cases
- Spearhead pre-sales activities, RFP/RFI responses, and executive-facing presentations to win new business
- Direct a network of solution architects, principal engineers, and delivery leaders spanning multiple regions
- Cultivate a culture rooted in technical rigor, collaborative knowledge sharing, and ongoing skill development
- Guide senior architects on sound architectural principles, client relationship management, and managed services solution design
Requirements
- Between 22 and 30 years of cumulative professional experience
- More than 15 years spent in enterprise architecture, solution design, and direct architectural work
- Demonstrated success leading extensive managed services engagements spanning multiple years and significant financial scale
- Thorough understanding of cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP), enterprise integration practices, and platform modernization approaches
- Direct experience with at least one programming language, such as Java, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python, combined with GenAI and AI architecture knowledge
- Solid background in service delivery frameworks, SLA/KPI structures, and governance approaches
- Practical experience incorporating AI/GenAI into managed services, including automation, predictive analytics, conversational AI, and knowledge management, with direct hands-on implementation
- Familiarity with GenAI orchestration tools (LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock) and vector database technology
- Demonstrated skill in engaging and influencing executive-level stakeholders
- Established background within IT consulting firms or global delivery organizations
- Strong leadership qualities paired with excellent communication and presentation capabilitie

- Background working with AIOps, MLOps, and intelligent automation solutions
- Solid commercial awareness to engage effectively in contract discussions, pricing strategy, and P&L conversations
- Recognition as a thought leader through public speaking engagements, published whitepapers, or blog contributions focused on architecture and AI/GenAI
