We are looking for a Senior UI Technical Designer to bridge design and engineering by building scalable UI systems in Unreal Engine with a focus on architecture, performance, and input feel. You will translate wireframes into reusable widgets and robust flows, partnering closely with cross-discipline teammates—apply now.

Responsibilities
  • Design UI system architecture by breaking features and wireframes into widgets, structures, and classes
  • Build reusable and extensible widget templates that support efficient iteration and styling
  • Lay out wireframes using appropriate widget classes to enable visual designers to apply styling quickly
  • Prototype UX and visual concepts and translate design intent into actionable technical requirements
  • Implement responsive player input mapping and tune interaction feel to match gameplay expectations
  • Own UI performance by profiling UMG, Slate, Blueprint/C++ costs, and texture memory within constraints
  • Write Blueprint presentation logic and advise what belongs in Blueprint versus native code
  • Debug Blueprint and UMG issues quickly using systematic fault isolation
  • Support UI artists with specialized presentation behaviors and workflow guidance
  • Document UI systems and improve organization and pipelines across UX, UI art, and engineering
  • Coordinate work to maintain reasonable time overlap with clients in the Cary, NC time zone
Requirements
  • 3 years of professional experience in a UI Tech Designer, Technical UI Artist, or similar hybrid role
  • Deep Unreal Engine 5 experience with UMG, Slate, and Blueprints on shipped UI screens and flows
  • Strong leadership skills to own ambiguous foundational UI problems and drive them to shippable solutions
  • Proven project experience designing navigation flows and screen-to-screen relationships in a live product
  • Strong UI performance knowledge for real-time engines including memory and CPU constraints
  • Solid game math knowledge including basic algebra and geometry
  • Strong programming fundamentals with visual scripting (Blueprints; Lua or Python)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for complex, context-dependent navigation and UI state
  • Strong collaboration skills across UX, UI art, and engineering disciplines
  • English proficiency: B2 Upper-Intermediate
Nice to have
  • Experience with scoped or context-driven navigation systems
  • Familiarity with large-scale discovery or storefront UI patterns
  • Advanced Blueprint scripting beyond basic UI wiring
  • Experience with AI assistants applied to development workflows
  • Background in gaming products and player-facing UI ecosystems
