Find me a jobWe are looking for a Senior UI Technical Designer to convert UX and visual direction into shippable UI specs and prototypes for Unreal Engine 5. You will define flows, interaction behavior, navigation rules, and component standards that implement cleanly across platforms and input methods.
Responsibilities
- Define UI flows, user journeys, and interaction models for in-game screens and features, and deliver clear implementation-ready specifications
- Build and maintain a scalable UI component system with patterns, components, variants, and states to enable consistent in-engine implementation
- Document detailed behavior rules for navigation/focus order, back behavior, input handling expectations, error/empty/loading states, and edge cases
- Collaborate daily with client engineers and UI artists to keep designs feasible, performant, and consistent within Unreal Engine
- Support iteration and polish by reviewing implementations, giving actionable feedback, and updating designs based on technical constraints and playtest/QA findings
Requirements
- Proven 3+ years of experience with a strong UI/UX foundation and a record of shipping digital products or game UI
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, reusable libraries, and handoff-ready documentation
- Hands-on ability to produce implementation-ready documentation such as annotated layouts, interaction notes, state diagrams, and acceptance criteria
- Working familiarity with UMG concepts, including layout, anchors, scaling, and widget states/animations, sufficient to design within engine realities
- Deep understanding of focus-based navigation and multi-input requirements, including controller and keyboard/mouse
- Demonstrated experience designing responsive UI for multiple resolutions/aspect ratios and safe-area considerations
- English proficiency at B2 (Upper-Intermediate) level or higher
Nice to have
- Familiarity with UI systems/framework conventions used in Unreal, such as screen stacks, activatable views, and common navigation patterns
- Experience with localization-aware design, including string expansion, truncation rules, and dynamic layouts
- Knowledge of accessibility/readability practices such as contrast, font sizing, and couch-distance UI
- Background working on live products with rapid iteration and frequent releases
