We are looking for a talented Senior Python Data Engineer to join our team and work on an exciting project in the pharmaceutical research sector. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing knowledge graphs that support target selection for drug discovery. You will integrate diverse datasets into a comprehensive knowledge graph using internal and public standard ontologies and reference data. Your work will enable our client’s data scientists to develop machine-learning models for identifying and prioritizing potential therapeutic drug targets.
You will work closely with a team of experts to deliver a data product that ensures analysis-ready data for research and development efforts. - Develop and construct knowledge graphs, including mapping data to standard ontologies and reference data
- Design and implement ETL processes for integrating diverse datasets related to targets, diseases, phenotypes, and drugs
- Prepare data for machine learning applications, including creating queries for subgraphs and exporting data to adjacency matrices or tensors
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong background in semantic data engineering
- Expertise in semantic web technologies, such as RDF data format and SPARQL query language
- Proven experience in data engineering tasks, including SQL and ETL jobs
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java (or a comparable programming language)
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), especially serverless services like Lambda, Glue, and Step Functions
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, source code version control (e.g., Git), infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform), and containerization (e.g., Docker)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with other teams
- Demonstrates a growth mindset and the ability to work with enterprise-level teams
- Upper-intermediate or higher English level, both spoken and written (B2+)
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation , Amazon Web Services , and Terraform
- Experience with the Atlassian stack of tools for agile software development (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
