Senior Observability Engineer (New Relic)

We are seeking a Senior Observability Engineer (New Relic) who will not only resolve existing technical monitoring issues in New Relic but will also drive the architectural vision and standardization of observability practices across the platform.

This is a strategic engineering role, focused on developing end-to-end observability capabilities, automation, and cross-platform integration (New Relic, Azure, API). The MVP implementation will include the core eCommerce site, Digital Asset Management, Product Information Management, Content Management System, Integration to Marketing cloud, customer service systems and Order Management System.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy and configure New Relic agents (Infrastructure and APM) across various data sources: cloud services, microservices, PaaS, APIs, and logging platforms
  • Design and implement a unified observability strategy using New Relic, covering all components of the digital platform
  • Build NRQL queries to extract actionable insights; implement ML-based anomaly detection where applicable
  • Integrate alerts with systems like ServiceNow for automated incident creation and resolution workflows
  • Expand CMDB coverage in ServiceNow through auto-discovery and metadata synchronization
  • Create dashboards, health check reports, and observability playbooks for DevOps, QA, and product teams
  • Perform tooling gap analysis and propose improvements based on SRE and AIOps best practices
  • Define standardized alert severity levels and align the alerting strategy with business impact priorities
Requirements
  • Proven experience with New Relic (including NRQL, alert policies, dashboards, ML anomaly detection)
  • Understanding of Azure Cloud services and telemetry ingestion (Azure Monitor, Logs, App Insights)
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash and Python for automation and custom integrations
  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB, auto-discovery, and incident/event integration
  • Knowledge of SRE and AIOps practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, automated RCA)
  • Familiarity with modern DevSecOps monitoring principles
  • Business-oriented mindset with the ability to shape technical standards
  • Flexibility to adapt and influence change in evolving environments
  • Self-starter capable of working independently and driving initiatives
  • Strong communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player who can work across functional teams
