Find me a jobWe are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to support a large Wealth Management firm operating in a broker-dealer model. This role focuses on Mainframe development for Retirement planning functionality, blending new development as the primary focus with production support responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver new Mainframe development initiatives supporting Retirement planning functionality
- Provide production support to ensure the stability and reliability of Mainframe applications
- Quickly diagnose and resolve common Job Abends in the Mainframe environment
- Troubleshoot complex production issues by applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a Scrum-based delivery model
- Utilize Problem Management tools such as ServiceNow to track and resolve incidents
- Work with Mainframe Job Schedulers to manage and monitor batch processes
- Partner with business stakeholders in the Financial Services domain to deliver technical solutions aligned to business needs
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in Mainframe development
- Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and DB2
- Expertise in VSAM and IBM MQ
- Capability to quickly fix common Job Abends in Mainframe
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with IT Service Management practices
- Hands-on experience with Problem Management tools, preferably ServiceNow
- Background in working with Mainframe Job Schedulers
- Understanding of the Financial Services domain
- Skills in working within a Scrum environment
- Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
Nice to have
- Knowledge of CICS, Assembler, and IDMS/IMS development or support
- Familiarity with debugging tools such as EXPEDITOR, ABENDAID, TELON, and FileAid
- Experience with ISPW, Topaz, or Compuware
- ITIL certification, along with exposure to Atlassian Jira and Scaled Agile Framework
- Background in the Wealth Management domain
