EPAM is looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a fast-moving engineering team delivering mission-critical software for a leading global investment bank. The project focuses on strategic regulatory reporting systems that process and report data to global regulators in a complete, accurate, and timely manner — handling millions of messages daily with strict SLAs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of financial instruments across multiple asset classes — from high-volume Cash Equities to complex Commodities, Credit, Equities, and Interest Rate derivatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications for regulatory data processing and reporting
- Design infrastructure and network topology solutions for innovative projects
- Apply best development practices to produce high-quality code and effectively utilize technologies
- Provide architectural expertise and technical assistance to other team members
- Lead technical design discussions with fellow Java Developers and ensure development methodology is followed
- Build relationships with business users and facilitate requirements gathering
- Investigate and resolve production issues; help maintain a stable production environment
Requirements
- Strong experience in designing and implementing Java-based backend applications (Java 8, Spring, Spring Boot)
- Knowledge of database design and SQL, including query optimization
- Solid Object-Oriented analysis and design skills — understanding of design patterns, clean code principles, and concepts such as OOD, TDD, BDD, DDD, CI/CD
- Proficient with tools used across the software development lifecycle: IntelliJ IDEA, Git, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, JIRA, etc.
- Familiarity with debugging and performance tuning, along with a good understanding of deploying, maintaining, and monitoring complex Java applications
- Knowledge of modern technical architectures and how to pragmatically leverage their benefits
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+)
Nice to have
- Experience with GitHub, ELK Stack, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Batch, Spring Integration
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and stream processing
- Experience with other JVM languages such as Groovy
- Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
- Exposure to UNIX/Linux environments with shell scripting
- Experience or interest in financial products and regulatory reporting
