We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our remote team, contributing to the design, development, and monitoring of systems and solutions for collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing large data sets. As a Senior Java Developer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality software solutions, using your expertise in Java, AWS, Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, SQL, and Big Data and Data Management. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing large data sets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop high-quality software solutions
- Contribute to code reviews, ensuring code quality and adherence to coding standards
- Develop and maintain automated test suites to validate software functionality and performance
- Monitor and analyze system performance to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Document software design, architecture, and development processes
- Participate in the development of technical specifications and project plans
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, demonstrating your proficiency in Java programming
- Database and data manipulation skills working with relational or non-relational models
- Deep curiosity for how things work and a desire to make them better
- Fluent spoken and written English at an Upper-Intermediate level or higher
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing you to identify and resolve complex technical issues
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience in an Agile development environment
Nice to have
- Knowledge and experience with non-relational databases (i.e. Hbase, MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Knowledge and experience with large-scale data tools and techniques (i.e. MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark)
- Knowledge and experience with AWS Big Data services (i.e. EMR, ElasticSearch)
- Experience working in a highly distributed environment, using modern collaboration tools to facilitate team communication
