Our remote team is looking for a Senior Google Cloud Support Engineer to provide technical assistance and support to customers using Cloud Platform products, solutions, and APIs.
Your primary focus will be on supporting customers using Google Compute Engine and related services, as well as providing technical and developer support to our customers. You will work closely with Engineers and Product Managers to improve the product and ensure our customers' success. As a Senior Engineer, you will also be responsible for handling change requests and incident tickets and participating in the Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to customers using Cloud Platform products, solutions, and APIs including Google Compute Engine and related services
- Provide technical and developer support as part of a global 24x5-support organization
- Work closely with Engineers and Product Managers to improve the product and make our customers successful
- Handle change requests and incident tickets for the remaining Infrastructure Teams - Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management
- Follow notification and escalation procedures and standards for communications with business involving operational issues
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or a combination of Networking and System Administrator roles
- Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows Server
- Familiarity with shell scripting and multitasking/multiprocessing
- Ability to set up monitoring, conduct performance audits, and optimize performance
- Strong understanding of administration, user accounts, permission models, and access control
- Familiarity with networking, NAT, DNS, firewalls, basic routing, load balancing, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting Linux performance (CPU, memory, I/O) and using common Linux troubleshooting tools (vmstat, iostat, lsof, strace)
- Familiarity with SQL and cloud computing
- Strong business ownership and customer focus
- Fluent in English with at least an Upper-Intermediate level of competency
Nice to have
- Experience in deploying and managing distributed systems and clusters
- Familiarity with VMs like Google Compute Engine, VMware, Amazon EC2, etc.
- Experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and CloudSQL
- Familiarity with programming languages like Java, Python, C++, etc.
- Experience with MongoDB, Hadoop, HTTP, TLS, SMTP, etc.
- Ability to follow ITIL/ITSM process, train other team members, and contribute to process improvement
