Senior Big Data Developer

We are seeking a remote Senior Big Data Developer to join our remote team.

As a Senior Big Data Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data processing pipelines and data storage solutions. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and reliability of our data solutions. Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data processing pipelines using Scala and other Big Data technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and business needs
  • Ensure the quality and reliability of data solutions, conducting testing and debugging as necessary
  • Maintain and optimize data storage solutions, including data warehousing and cloud-based storage solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for data engineering
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in Big Data technologies, sharing your knowledge with the team
Requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in Scala, demonstrating your proficiency in designing and developing data processing pipelines
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL, highlighting your ability to work with relational databases and data warehousing solutions
  • Practical experience with Apache Kafka, showcasing your understanding of distributed messaging systems
  • Working knowledge of Big Data technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, Avro, and Parquet
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks, demonstrating your familiarity with cloud-based data processing and storage solutions
  • Strong focus on teamwork and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage stress effectively
  • Fluent spoken and written English at an Upper-intermediate level or higher
Nice to have
  • Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
