We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team. You will write clean and maintainable code, identify and correct technical debt, and apply basic best practices such as refactoring and modularity, focusing on programming principles. Hybrid work model based in Quito. Availability to attend the office a minimum of three (3) days per week is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services that support core business functionality and application performance
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions aligned with business needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely and effective manner
- Contribute to architectural discussions and provide input on technical decision-making
- Ensure solutions are built with scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind
- Participate in code reviews to maintain consistency and quality across the codebase
- Document technical designs, processes, and solutions to support knowledge sharing across the team
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve existing systems, processes, and workflows
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to bring fresh ideas and improvements to the team
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Java development
- Ability to select and apply appropriate design patterns, justifying their use and promoting best practices
- Ability to design secure and resilient system integrations (APIs), managing versioning and applying messaging patterns
- Ability to justify and implement cloud components, designing scalable and efficient distributed solutions
- Ability to define and implement effective version control strategies, resolving complex conflicts and promoting collaboration
- Ability to design container-based solutions, optimize images, and manage orchestration and security
- Ability to design and maintain robust automated CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality, traceability, and reliable deployments
- Ability to design efficient relational database models, optimize queries, and guarantee referential integrity
- Ability to design NoSQL solutions based on use cases, managing performance and consistency
- Knowledge of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to validate functionality and reduce code errors
- Basic knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, including system monitoring, alert identification, and incident response following established protocols
- Clear communication skills in technical contexts, with the ability to actively participate in meetings and reviews and explain work to other roles, adapting messaging for different audiences
- Strong teamwork skills, including active collaboration, timely sharing of progress and roadblocks, adaptability to different work styles, and contribution to a positive team environment
- Excellent English communication skills (B2 level or higher)
Nice to have
- Ability to design complete technical solutions aligned with business needs, considering scalability, resilience, security, and quality attributes
- Experience designing secure solutions by applying security principles, managing confidential information, and complying with regulations such as PCI-DSS and GDPR
- Familiarity with Angular for developing front-end interfaces that integrate with backend services
- Knowledge of GitOps practices for managing infrastructure and deployments through version-controlled workflows
- Experience with OAuth for implementing secure authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Familiarity with Terraform for provisioning and managing infrastructure as code
