We are on the lookout for a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to join our international team at EPAM. This position entails evaluating a client's direct consumer site, which includes over 300 unique pages, offering recommendations for remediation, confirming fixes, and producing a VPAT. The successful candidate will be instrumental in defining accessibility standards and ensuring adherence across broad digital platforms. Your contributions will be vital in sustaining an inclusive digital environment that aligns with international accessibility standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the testing team during audits and analyses to create detailed accessibility specifications
- Assess the necessary efforts for Accessibility Testing, Audits, and Analytics for a variety of projects
- Detect and validate issues noted by the team, offering practical solutions for their resolution
- Work in conjunction with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in specifications and design mockups
- Offer prompt feedback and recommendations to maintain continuous and situational compliance
- Communicate effectively about accessibility issues with both clients and internal stakeholders
- Organize and prioritize findings from reviews to streamline issue resolution
- Ensure adherence to Section 508 standards
- Record and ensure that design and functional requirements comply with WCAG standards
- Provide guidance and support to junior accessibility specialists in their professional development
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consulting
- In-depth knowledge of HTML/CSS, specifically regarding accessibility and WAI-ARIA
- Advanced understanding of WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, capable of delivering significant recommendations
- Knowledge of CI/CD processes and how to incorporate accessibility within product development
- Experience in conducting functional tests of web applications on desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
- Skilled in using developer tools like Chrome Dev Tools
- Experienced with assistive technologies such as screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation capabilities
- Fluent in English, with at least a B2+ level proficiency
Nice to have
- Certifications like WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or having completed accredited accessibility courses
- Proficiency in JavaScript
- Experience in managing scrum environments in large-scale projects with various distributed teams
