We are in search of a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to become a part of our international team at EPAM. This role is centered around the redesign of a suite of products equipped with various widgets and tools. Tasked with ensuring new design mockups developed by the UX/UI team comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, you will play a key role in certifying that all design and functional elements uphold the highest accessibility standards. Your expertise will be crucial in fostering inclusive digital environments and expanding access to essential services for a diverse audience.
Responsibilities
- Perform Accessibility Assessments on design mockups and wireframes produced by the UI/UX team
- Direct and oversee the testing team during audits and product evaluations to establish accessibility standards
- Calculate the necessary resources for Accessibility Testing, Auditing, and Analytics for diverse projects
- Address and resolve issues identified by the testing team with practical solutions
- Work closely with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in all specifications and design mockups
- Deliver prompt review feedback and recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Provide expert advice to clients on Accessibility implementation, remediation, and related matters
- Manage client inquiries by analyzing requirements, devising solutions, estimating efforts, and presenting proposals
- Organize and prioritize review outcomes to prepare for effective issue resolution
- Uphold compliance with Section 508 standards
- Document and ensure that design and functional requirements are WCAG compliant
- Guide and nurture the professional development of junior Accessibility Specialists
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consultancy
- Extensive knowledge of HTML/CSS, with a special focus on accessibility and WAI-ARIA
- Skilled in understanding and implementing WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, capable of making significant recommendations
- Acquainted with CI/CD processes and the integration of accessibility features within product development
- Experienced in functional testing of web applications across desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile devices (Android/iOS)
- Proficient with developer tools like Chrome Dev Tools
- Familiar with assistive technologies such as screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Fluent in English, with a minimum B2+ level proficiency
Nice to have
- Certifications in WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or completion of established accessibility courses
- Proficiency in JavaScript
- Experience in managing scrum environments on extensive projects with multiple distributed teams
