As the successful candidate, you will report to our Associate General Counsel (Employment EMEA/APAC) to provide employment law advice for our EMEA/APAC business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid- level employment lawyer to obtain further experience working in a fast-paced, exciting global organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day advice on a broad range of labor and employment matters focusing on locations in the Middle East and APAC, including Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Vietnam, and to assist with any other EMEA/APAC location as needed
- Advise on recruitment, employment contracts, consultation and disciplinary processes, performance management, collective agreement interpretation and application, personnel leasing, transfer of employment, terminations, working time, leaves of absence, dismissal claims and other statutory obligations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business and HR leaders throughout the EMEA/APAC region and the local and global Legal teams
- Develop, revise, and implement best-in-class employment documents, policies, practices and scalable training solutions
- Drive good business results from difficult ER situations by successfully managing ER issues, pre-dispute conflicts, and assisting with managing employment-related litigation
- Draft, review, and manage best-in-class employment templates (such as employment contracts, termination agreements, contractor agreements, employee handbooks and policies) and assist with drafting and negotiation questions, as necessary
- Review, amend and assist with negotiations on other people-related contracts (such as payroll agreements, vendor agreements, agency agreements)
- Support commercial negotiations relating to EPAM customers
- Draft, review, and assist with the implementation of global employment and compliance policies
- Develop, implement and conduct training on employment policies and programs
- Partner with representatives of other departments, including human resources, on internal investigations
- Assist with the development and management of global privacy and AI compliance policies and procedures, working closely with cross-functional partners and the wider legal team when needed and providing proactive guidance on global privacy and data protection laws
- Advise on all people-related issues arising from local data privacy laws obligations, such as privacy notices, data processing agreements
- Apply for, oversee and manage personnel leasing licenses and related queries
- Assist with the development of country work rules, works councils, labor/management committees, sexual harassment committees and other country-specific items and consultation with employees and/or employee delegates
- Advise on people-related issues in M&A and other business transactions and post-acquisition mergers
- Liaise and instruct external counsel, as required
Requirements
- Qualified employment lawyer qualified in Turkey or other relevant jurisdiction
- Significant post-qualification experience in employment and labor law (around 4-7 years’ PQE, but candidates with more or less experience who can demonstrate that they have equivalent levels of skills or knowledge will be considered)
- Previous in-house experience essential
- Experience of working in the IT or professional services industry is an advantage
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- Highly motivated and committed with the ability to build and develop rapport with HR and the business
- Professional, calm under pressure, well organized, proactive and able to grasp concepts quickly
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys the challenge of working in a dynamic and busy environment
- English and Turkish language skills are essential – you must be able to undertake accurate legal drafting in these languages
