Middle Build Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Middle Build Engineer to manage our existing small-team infrastructure and product operations. The primary focus for this position is to further integrate our infrastructure into our overall large-scale infrastructure. The person hired for this role will help run our existing Rackspace systems and later move them to AWS.

Responsibilities
  • Handle internal user account management: new requests, deletions, authorization
  • Front line request handling for incidents or planning for new resource allocation
  • Maintain configuration management for nodes, attributes, and recipes
  • Assist with transitioning from Rackspace to AWS services
  • Perform periodic software upgrades where focused attention is required
  • Periodic database maintenance
  • Find places in need of infrastructure improvement, formulate an approach, implement
  • Watch monitoring applications for alerts and handle them appropriately, from the operating system up
  • Monitor security systems and traffic for indications of attack or intrusion
Requirements
  • Experience with Amazon cloud products and offerings
  • Expertise with deploying open source projects to Amazon cloud
  • Knowledge of configuration management through Chef
  • Familiar with monitoring environments for performance and security
  • Familiarity with OpenStack node and storage provisioning and management
  • Expertise with Git
  • Expertise with Linux, particularly Ubuntu and systemd
  • Familiarity with containers, especially Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with LDAP
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
