We are looking for a Middle Application Support Engineer with Core Java expertise to join our remote team.

As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing operational and technical support for production applications. You will be part of a team that provides 3rd line support for the customer's large ecosystem of Java applications. Your role will involve troubleshooting issues, providing recommendations, and monitoring the applications to ensure their smooth functioning. You will also be responsible for managing incidents, problem, and change management processes following ITIL best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational and technical support for production applications
  • Troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations, and monitor applications to ensure smooth functioning
  • Manage incidents, problem, and change management processes in accordance with ITIL best practices
  • Collaborate with developers, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain support documentation for applications
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 support
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in application support, preferably in a large or medium-large ecosystem
  • Experience working with Elastic logs, APM logs, etc.
  • Experience working with pre-built Jenkins pipelines
  • Experience with Java Core applications, troubleshooting errors, and providing recommendations
  • Good understanding of web applications (Web/App/DB Servers, Firewalls), Services, DNS lookups, network principals, troubleshooting, and monitoring (http/https, SSL Certs, Firewalls, extracting browser HAR files, app to db connections, etc.)
  • Very good experience with SQL
  • Understanding of fundamental principles of DBs (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL), connectivity, running SQLs, and troubleshooting basic SQL errors
  • Fundamental understanding of ITIL processes (incidents, problem, change management)
  • Availability for evening/night/morning shifts, weekend releases, and on-call support
  • Experience with Jira & Confluence
Nice to have
  • Knowledge of Windows administration (IIS, etc.)
  • Experience with virtualization/containerization
  • Knowledge of CI/CD principles
  • Cloud exposure (managing applications in GCP)
  • Experience with SQL performance tuning (indexes, procedures and functions, transactions)
