Find me a jobWe are looking for a skilled Mainframe Developer with strong experience in mainframe technologies and Java development to support a key Retirement Planning platform for a leading Wealth Management firm operating within a broker-dealer model. In this role, you will focus primarily on new feature development while also providing production support for business-critical applications. You will leverage technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IBM MQ, and Java, troubleshoot complex production issues, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and performance.

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe-based applications supporting retirement planning capabilities
- Deliver new development initiatives while providing production support for existing applications and services
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve mainframe job failures, abends, and performance-related issues
- Develop and maintain solutions utilizing COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IBM MQ, and Java technologies
- Monitor and support batch processing workflows, scheduling activities, and operational processes
- Leverage IT Service Management and problem management practices to ensure effective incident resolution and root cause analysis
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, development teams, and support teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions
- Participate in project interviews, technical discussions, and implementation planning activities
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IBM MQ, and Java development
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve common mainframe job abends and production issues
- Experience working with mainframe job schedulers and batch processing environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to IT Service Management processes and operational support practices
- Hands-on experience with problem management tools, preferably ServiceNow
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Ability and willingness to work from the office occasionally as required
- Completion of a project interview is required
- Experience with CICS development and support
- Knowledge of or experience with Assembler, IDMS, and IMS environments
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as EXPEDITOR
- Knowledge of mainframe tools including ABENDAID, TELON, and FileAid
- Experience with ISPW, Topaz, and Compuware toolsets
- ITIL certification
