Lead Java Developer

We are looking for a skilled remote Lead Java Developer to join our team and work on a project that involves troubleshooting, database management, and testing techniques. In addition to core Java skills, the ideal candidate must possess expertise in databases like AWS RDS/PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, and database change management. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing changes, as well as monitoring and assessing the system's performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and test changes to the system
  • Overcome impediments and work with support engineers
  • Monitor and assess the system's performance using tools such as Splunk
  • Contribute to the knowledge base by adding or updating documentation and designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product owners, architects, and designers to identify and implement solutions
  • Support and mentor the team members
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in Java development and relevant leadership experience
  • Expertise in Java core concepts such as multi-threading, collections, and exception handling
  • Experience in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and DynamoDb
  • Proficiency in Spring Boot framework
  • Familiarity with SQL and database management
  • Experience working with Jira for project management and bug tracking
  • Strong knowledge of testing techniques, including unit testing, end-to-end testing, and functional testing
  • Experience in troubleshooting, reading logs, and navigating Java code
  • Ability to monitor and assess the performance of the system using tools such as Splunk
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English at an upper-intermediate level
Nice to have
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Knowledge of other cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
