Find me a jobWe are seeking a high-caliber Lead / Principal Golang Engineer to act as the technical driving force behind systems at the intersection of software engineering and laboratory automation.
If you are a seasoned engineer who excels at designing resilient backends, architecting distributed systems, making high-impact technical decisions, and mentoring peers to achieve engineering excellence, this role is for you.
You will join a high-impact, multi-technology umbrella program supporting a premier global biomedical research institute. Our mission is to build, scale, and optimize next-generation lab automation systems, custom integration layers, and Business Process Automation platforms. Operating in an Agile and ITIL-aligned environment, we connect physical laboratory robotics and advanced analytical instruments directly with scientific data workflows to accelerate discovery.
- Architect Lab Integrations: Design and build standardized integration layers (adapters) connecting laboratory robotics and instruments with core LIMS workflows
- Enhance Observability & Reliability: Implement fault-tolerant design patterns, state management, and recovery workflows alongside comprehensive monitoring, logging, and real-time device telemetry
- Scale BPA Platforms: Design and govern a highly decoupled, versioned business rules engine deployable with zero disruption to daily operations
- Design Secure APIs: Lead the architecture of modular systems with contract-first APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), secure-by-design patterns, caching, and asynchronous processing
- Ensure Data Integrity: Guarantee complete auditability and end-to-end traceability of scientific and experimental data flows
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Mentor engineers through constructive code reviews, pair programming, and architectural walkthroughs to foster systems thinking
- Deliver End-to-End: Take ownership of features from conceptualization to production, prioritizing tasks effectively to ensure predictable, high-quality releases
- Domain Context: Experience with lab automation workflows (LIMS, device integration) or Business Process Automation (BPA/rules engines)
- Languages & Frameworks: Expert-level Golang, strong Ruby, and advanced knowledge of Ruby on Rails and Phoenix Framework
- Data & Storage: Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) as well as NoSQL and key-value stores
- API Design: Mastery of secure API implementation utilizing REST, GraphQL, and gRPC
- AWS Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on deployment using ECS, S3, ALB, combined with Terraform (IaC), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
- Testing & Quality: Proven commitment to code quality using Test-Driven Development (TDD) with unit and integration testing
- Methodologies: Comfortable navigating Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and ITIL-managed environments
- Prior experience in life sciences, healthcare, or pharmaceutical domains
- Active contributions to the Go open-source community
- AWS or Scrum Master certifications
