Find me a jobWe are seeking a Lead Embedded C++ Developer to drive the real-time backend layer of a Class IIb refractive surgery system running on QNX RTOS. In this role, you will work within a cross-subsystem feature team, implement features end-to-end across the device control layer, and coordinate with frontend and server-side engineers. You will leverage agentic AI tooling daily while maintaining full personal ownership of every line of code.
Please note that working from the office in Wroclaw 5 days per week is required.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain safety-critical C++ on QNX for real-time device control, treatment execution and safety functions (Backend RTD board)
- Contribute to features spanning multiple boards (Frontend, Backend, Video Unit) and repositories
- Drive GitHub Copilot agent mode to implement agreed designs and explain every line during PR walkthrough
- Apply TDD practices, with unit tests written first and traceable to ADO Specification Items and Test Cases
- Prepare solution designs in the client's SDD template, referencing specification IDs, with module owner approval before implementation
- Use AI agents to understand modules first, including data flows, dependencies and cross-repo impacts
- Operate CI quality gates, including clang-tidy, clang-format, warnings-as-errors, Doxygen, license-header checks and coverage thresholds
- Work within Conan 2, covering versioning, lockfiles, conan graph build-order and Artifactory promotion pipeline
- Participate in monthly device-in-the-loop integration demos on physical hardware
- Address PR review feedback personally, not by re-prompting the AI
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in C++ (C++17 minimum) with depth in embedded or real-time systems
- Experience with QNX RTOS, or a demonstrable evidence-backed rapid ramp-up path
- Experience in IEC 62304 Class B/C medical device delivery
- Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 11 (audit trail, electronic records)
- Active, proficient use of agentic AI tooling with a concrete example and measurable cycle time impact
- Test-driven development as a habit
- Skills in static analysis tooling such as clang-tidy, clang-format or equivalent
- Linux embedded development experience (Video Unit board)
Nice to have
- Skills in Conan 2 (versioning, lockfiles, promotion pipelines)
- Experience in ADO YAML pipeline authoring
- Familiarity with Artifactory integration
- Experience in FPGA interaction (Xilinx/Intel toolchains)
- Background in real-time eye tracking, image processing or medical laser systems
