Lead Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Database Administrator to join our team.

In this role, you will manage and optimize DB2 databases while ensuring their performance, availability, and security. You will contribute significantly to maintaining business-critical systems while collaborating with application development teams to implement new features and solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve acceptable database availability and response times by diagnosing and resolving issues in a high-availability multi-datacenter environment
  • Monitor database performance to identify potential issues and ensure smooth operations
  • Resolve problems effectively and within appropriate timeframes during regular work hours
  • Configure and install business-critical databases in alignment with requirements from application development teams and business users
  • Ensure adherence to audit, security, and regulatory standards
  • Offer DBA support for complex software installations and upgrades, including major updates
  • Uphold a strong commitment to the integrity, security, and privacy of critical business data
  • Facilitate data replication, backup, and availability solutions
Requirements
  • 5+ years of development and administrative experience with DB2 z/OS
  • Knowledge of SQL, including XML, triggers, functions, and stored procedures
  • Background in DDL, DCL, and database utilities or commands
  • Skills in database tools such as Toad, BMC, and db2top
  • Experience with large OLTP databases or data warehouses
  • Proficiency in Unix scripting for database environments
  • Familiarity with CICS or MQ integration
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Nice to have
  • Competency in database performance tuning in high-volume environments
  • Skills in using OEM for database monitoring and optimization
  • Understanding of database security protocols and data masking strategies
  • Familiarity with best practices for cross-environment database deployments
