We are looking for a Lead Data Governance Engineer to advance and improve data governance efforts, focusing on protecting and streamlining data using Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 platforms.
The right candidate will leverage technical expertise to implement governance measures, ensure regulatory compliance, and support secure organizational collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Administer Microsoft Purview to define data classification, labeling, and retention frameworks
- Implement data loss prevention strategies and address compliance alerts
- Support audit activities by tracking and analyzing sensitive data operations
- Oversee data protection and compliance functionalities within Microsoft 365 solutions
- Deploy sensitivity labels and rules to ensure the security of organizational data
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to enforce governance policies
- Maintain metadata management processes, including data cataloging and lineage tracking
- Analyze data leakage incidents and coordinate remediation efforts with security teams
- Optimize configuration settings for sharing, guest access, and conditional access in collaboration platforms
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as GDPR, SOX, and DORA
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar field
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, compliance, or security engineering roles
- Expertise in Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 Compliance Center tools
- Familiarity with Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Outlook collaboration platforms
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, SOX, or DORA
- Proficiency in certifications like Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals or CIPT
- Background in integrating Microsoft Purview with Sentinel, Defender for Cloud Apps, or SIEM solutions
- Knowledge of scripting capabilities such as PowerShell and Graph API
