We are seeking a Lead Java Developer in Singapore. You lead hands-on delivery of banking-grade Back-end services built on Java 21, Spring Boot, microservices and REST APIs. You shape architecture, set engineering standards and partner with DevOps to run containerized workloads on OpenShift/Kubernetes with strong testing, security and observability.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of Java 21, Spring Boot Back-end services
  • Define microservice boundaries, API contracts, data models and integration patterns
  • Build resilient REST APIs with clear error handling, versioning and documentation
  • Guide synchronous and event-driven service communication and integration decisions
  • Partner with DevOps to containerise, deploy and operate services on OpenShift
  • Establish coding standards, reusable patterns and review practices across the team
  • Improve quality through automated testing, CI/CD and code scanning tools
  • Troubleshoot production issues with SRE and platform teams and drive root-cause fixes
Requirements
  • Java expertise including hands-on work with modern Java LTS versions (Java 21 on this project)
  • Spring Boot background across Spring Framework and Spring MVC
  • Microservices design experience including distributed systems fundamentals
  • REST API design skills including API gateway and system integration concepts
  • SQL proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • Containers experience with Docker and cloud-native delivery practices
  • Kubernetes/OpenShift exposure deploying or supporting containerised applications
  • Testing capability using JUnit, Mockito plus unit and integration automation
Nice to have
  • Spring Cloud, Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ for event streaming and messaging
  • Observability experience with ELK/OpenSearch, AppDynamics or Grafana
  • Domain exposure to banking or financial services
