Join our remote team as a Lead AWS Cloud Cost Optimization Developer.
This role involves increasing cloud expenditure visibility through the creation of a data-driven approach for alerting, reporting, and optimizing cloud costs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in DevOps or SRE, deep knowledge of cost analysis and optimization in large AWS environments, a passion for data analysis, and the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Identification of optimization opportunities with various software development and engineering teams to maximize ROI on cloud resources and promote cost-efficient cloud infrastructure
- Comprehensive understanding of the client’s product, its cloud architecture and deployment, and the associated costs for each environment segment
- Collaboration with architects and engineers to advise on architecture and resource optimization, waste management, capacity management, and KPI development
- Monitoring and identification of increased Cloud costs and usage anomalies, with the ability to investigate the source of these increases
- Tracking and utilization of cloud reservation/savings plans and coordination with teams to re-purpose freed-up capacity
- Evaluation and investigation of data patterns and anomalies to inform strategic and operational decisions
- Recommendation of savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases and tracking utilization of these commitments
- Identification of efficiency areas and development of optimization plans
- Development, modification, and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and alerts for cloud costs and utilization
- Implementation of dashboards and automated reporting for cost and cost compliance
- Participation in the creation, automation, and governance of Cost Optimization policies and best practices
- Reporting of KPIs and recommended savings opportunities
- Partnership with engineering teams to ensure cost improvements are effective
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in AWS Cloud Cost Optimization
- At least 1 year of experience in leading software development teams with demonstrated excellent leadership skills
- Strong expertise in AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Amazon EC2
- Experience with containerization and AWS EKS, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon CloudWatch, and Smartsheet
- Knowledge of Python
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working remotely in an Agile environment
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Domain-specific industry experience in Real Estate, Insurance, Mortgage, Commercial or Residential Tax a plus
- Proven experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform
