Our remote team is in search of a Lead Accessibility Tester.
This role encompasses the assurance of product quality through internal supervision. The candidate will manage the influx of testing requests and fulfil them by conducting accessibility testing on designated products and identifying defects. In addition, the role entails mentoring testers, contributing to the development of test plans and scripts, creating documentation, and offering suggestions based on themes and insights collected from testing products. A comprehensive understanding of accessibility, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), familiarity with assistive technology, automated testing tools, and proven experience in accessibility testing are all essential for success in this role.

- Oversee the quality assurance of a broad product portfolio, managing the backlog of testing requests and fulfilling them
- Work closely with key stakeholders in Design, Product Management, and Product Engineering to facilitate testing throughout the product development lifecycle
- Ensure timely completion, accuracy, and alignment with expectations of all testing requests
- Influence testing decisions and offer recommendations as a thought leader in accessibility testing
- Mentor accessibility testers
- Contribute to the creation of test plans, scripts, and other accessibility testing documentation
- Develop and execute accessibility training plans for the testing team in partnership with the Accessibility Test Lead
- Conduct quality audits and provide advice on reducing quality errors
- Independently operate products of high complexity demonstrating proficiency
- Foster a positive team environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and respectful discussion
- Enforce adherence to accessibility policy and guidelines
- Keep up-to-date with emerging accessibility standards and industry trends
- Continually enhance skills and expertise in the field of accessibility testing
- BA/BS in information science, information design, computer science, or related field, or industry experience of equivalent relevance
- Minimum of 5 years in software development, web development or related field testing experience
- At least 3 years of experience in an accessibility-related field
- Evidence of successful leadership and mentorship within an engineering team
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 (AA) guidelines
- Advanced knowledge of assistive technologies, accessibility-related software such as JAWS® and NVDA, and automated testing tools
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar for logging and tracking bugs
- Proven success in coordinating testing efforts across various teams
- Documented success in the creation of test plans and scripts
- Ability to influence and define processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience dealing with high-level stakeholders
- Familiarity with Figma for design collaboration and prototyping
