Junior DevOps Engineer for Insurance Company

Currently, we are looking for a remote DevOps Engineer to join our team.

The customer is a leading wholesale provider of reinsurance, insurance and other insurance-based forms of risk transfer. Dealing direct and working through brokers, its global client base consists of insurance companies, mid-to-large-sized corporations and public sector clients.

Responsibilities
  • Design, Architecture, and Collaboration:  Familiar with the concepts of the 12-factor App, and can collaborate with developers to employ those principles
  • Build & Deploy:  Strives to make app builds and deploys fast and reliable, for both traditional (Dev, pre-Prod, Prod) and ephemeral environments
  • Test & Verification:  Collaborates with development and QA to ensure test automation gates our build and deploys
  • Information & Reporting:  Works with the team to understand the use cases for metrics, telemetry, and traceability to monitor their applications and ensure they meet our business objectives
Requirements
  • 6+ months experience with Cloud.Azure
  • Highly proficient with Linux, scripting, and automation tools
  • Familiarity and with Infrastructure as Code
  • Extensive experience with Docker, containers, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Source control management concepts and systems, particularly Gitlab and Github, well beyond just committing code and PRs
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD automation patterns and implementing them using Gitlab CI or similar
  • Experience working with teams to understand what telemetry and metrics are important and how to act that intelligence
  • Fundamental knowledge of cloud hosting and resource management using Azure or AWS
  • Familiarity with the Kubernetes landscape, the tools, and frameworks available to scale and decouple applications
  • Observability in Grafana, Prometheus
  • Proficiency in one or more modern languages, we heavily use Python, and its associated dependency management, build, and test tooling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, B2+ level of English
