Head of Engineering - Azure

EPAM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Leader focused on Microsoft Azure to join our growing team in West and Central Asia.

You'll be a key player in architecting innovative, scalable, and secure cloud solutions for our clients while also leading and mentoring a team of talented engineers. This is a senior, hands-on, client-facing role offering significant opportunities to shape EPAM's cloud business.

Responsibilities

Designing and delivering Azure solutions tailored to client requirements, including cloud migrations, greenfield deployments, hybrid cloud setups, and AI/ML initiatives, ensuring adherence to the Azure Well-Architected Framework, FinOps principles, and industry best practices
Directing and overseeing Azure projects, handling stakeholders, KPIs, and mitigating risks effectively
Managing and growing a high-performing team of 50+ engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability, while driving adoption of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and container orchestration tools such as AKS and Helm charts
Engaging in pre-sales activities like responding to RFPs and delivering client presentations as a trusted technical advisor
Evaluating and integrating new Azure technologies (AI, serverless, sustainability features) to spearhead R&D initiatives, crafting innovative solutions and enhancing team capabilities

Requirements

Expertise in crafting Azure solutions, including IaaS (Virtual Machines, Networking, Storage), PaaS (App Services, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, SQL Database, AKS), and serverless technologies
Proficiency in DevOps practices and CI/CD workflows (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub), along with IaC tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, Pulumi)
A background in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), with experience in AKS and skills in scripting and automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
Knowledge of Azure security protocols and tools such as Azure Security Center, Defender for Cloud, Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, and DDoS Protection
Competency in deploying and managing AI-powered solutions
Familiarity with cloud monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic) and cloud cost optimization techniques
Leadership skills to mentor and develop team talent, while motivating and guiding your team effectively
Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation abilities with a minimum B2+ proficiency in English
Understanding of emerging cloud engineering technologies and a commitment to maintaining cutting-edge expertise

Nice to have

Background in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) alongside an understanding of ITIL fundamentals
Prior experience in roles such as Architect, Consultant, or Delivery Manager, showcasing capabilities in client engagement and delivering value
Qualifications in vendor certifications such as Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
