Chief Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Chief Data Engineer to join our remote team and deliver innovative and scalable data solutions.

In this role, you will lead technical teams, guide system architecture design, and contribute to projects that address complex data challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, leadership expertise, and a passion for mentoring and driving innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and deployment of scalable and efficient data architectures
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and workflows to ensure data accuracy and availability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to collect requirements and present data-driven solutions
  • Offer technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
  • Enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Establish technical best practices while ensuring high-quality code outputs
  • Perform code reviews and actively participate in technical discussions
  • Engage in pre-sales processes, client communications, and SWAT team initiatives
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and participate in technical meetups and talks
  • Keep up-to-date on emerging technologies and apply innovative approaches
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering roles
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, covering team management and project direction
  • Background in completing at least 2 full-cycle projects or multiple phases of development lifecycles
  • Hands-on skills in coding while solving complex technical challenges
  • Proficiency in Python for data tasks, including processing, analysis, and automation
  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud-based data workflows
  • Background in using Databricks for big data analytics and machine learning activities
  • Expertise in system design and architecture, combining strategic vision with technical implementation
  • Track record of driving significant technical contributions across projects and teams
  • Broad competency in multiple technical domains and technology stacks
  • Mindset for mentoring and actively sharing knowledge within teams and communities
  • Understanding of innovation processes through adopting new tools, frameworks, or methodologies
  • Flexibility to adapt programming languages, technical stacks, and domains based on context
  • English communication skills at a B2 level or higher

  • Proficiency in real-time data processing and streaming technologies
  • Understanding of advanced machine learning and AI ecosystems
  • Familiarity with serverless computing solutions for optimizing data tasks
