We are seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join our Engineering team.
You will play a critical role in our dynamic group, working on innovative global Google infrastructure projects, leveraging a wide range of modern backend and cloud technologies, including Borg, C++ codebase, Google Cloud Run, and Spanner.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate as a member of a Scrum Team
- Engage in development and reliability engineering of infrastructure projects
- Respond to issues from both end-users and heartbeat services
- Collaborate with other developers and teams to understand and meet stakeholder needs
- Implement new or update existing features to enhance platform stability
- Propose optimal solutions taking existing customer infrastructure into account
- Work in on-call mode for emergency responses when needed
- Continuously increase expertise in site reliability engineering
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in C++, including concurrency, design patterns, memory management, exceptions, templates, STL and performance
- Background in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Expertise in Agile Frameworks such as SCRUM and Kanban
- Familiarity with Version Control Systems like GitHub
- A demonstrated ability to solve problems, learn quickly, and apply new technologies effectively
- Fluent English communication skills at a B2+ level
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, including services like Spanner, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and Compute Engine
- Understanding of SQL, including the use of joins, subqueries, and aggregate functions
- Knowledge of Google internal development tools such as Borg, Forge, TAP, Guitar, Piper, Cider, and Critique
