C++ Software Engineer

C++, SQL, Site Reliability Engineering

We are seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join our Engineering team.

You will play a critical role in our dynamic group, working on innovative global Google infrastructure projects, leveraging a wide range of modern backend and cloud technologies, including Borg, C++ codebase, Google Cloud Run, and Spanner.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate as a member of a Scrum Team
  • Engage in development and reliability engineering of infrastructure projects
  • Respond to issues from both end-users and heartbeat services
  • Collaborate with other developers and teams to understand and meet stakeholder needs
  • Implement new or update existing features to enhance platform stability
  • Propose optimal solutions taking existing customer infrastructure into account
  • Work in on-call mode for emergency responses when needed
  • Continuously increase expertise in site reliability engineering
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in C++, including concurrency, design patterns, memory management, exceptions, templates, STL and performance
  • Background in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Expertise in Agile Frameworks such as SCRUM and Kanban
  • Familiarity with Version Control Systems like GitHub
  • A demonstrated ability to solve problems, learn quickly, and apply new technologies effectively
  • Fluent English communication skills at a B2+ level
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, including services like Spanner, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and Compute Engine
  • Understanding of SQL, including the use of joins, subqueries, and aggregate functions
  • Knowledge of Google internal development tools such as Borg, Forge, TAP, Guitar, Piper, Cider, and Critique
