Our team is seeking a Principal Migration Automation Engineer to roll out and expand upon the Cloud Migration Factory hyper-automation framework in support of a major enterprise-scale migration into AWS. This position carries full responsibility for automation spanning the entire migration journey, starting with portfolio evaluation and wave sequencing and continuing through rehost execution via AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), while also producing the SOPs needed to keep the factory operating consistently at volume. The engagement is built entirely on AWS-native tooling: Cloud Migration Factory on AWS, AWS MGN, AWS Migration Hub, and infrastructure-as-code automation packages.
- Roll out and configure the Cloud Migration Factory on AWS framework together with the automation infrastructure packages that support it
- Create custom automation solutions and modify existing automation scripts to handle server discovery, prerequisite verification, agent deployment, and cutover work
- Drive full end-to-end automation of repeatable migration patterns, cutting down the manual workload tied to each wave and each individual server
- Review the application and server portfolio through Migration Portfolio Assessment (MPA) to establish migration strategies, dependency clusters, and wave sequencing
- Convert assessment findings into metadata formatted and ready for use within the factory, covering waves, applications, and servers
- Ensure automation scope and ordering stay consistent with portfolio priorities and business-driven constraints
- Manage rehost migration execution via AWS MGN, spanning replication setup, test launches, and cutover procedures
- Produce SOPs and runbooks covering factory operations, enabling migration teams to carry out waves in a consistent, repeatable manner
- Monitor migration progress and automation results, channeling lessons learned back into ongoing framework improvements
- At least 8 years of applicable work experience
- A minimum of 3 years spent in Senior, Lead, Manager, or Owner-level roles
- Demonstrated history managing engagements for teams of 5 or more full-time staff
- Direct, hands-on background using AWS Application Migration Service to carry out rehost migrations
- Solid background in automation built on scripting and programming languages to simplify repetitive work
- Practical experience across cloud migration efforts, including planning and delivery within large-scale environments
- Working experience deploying and running Cloud Migration Factory on AWS
- Strong command of Python for developing and sustaining automation scripts
- Fluent English communication skills at a B2 level or higher
- Working knowledge of AWS Migration Hub for monitoring and overseeing migration status
- Background in infrastructure automation and orchestration supporting migration processes built to scale
- Experience applying PowerShell toward scripting and automation needs
- Relevant certification, which would be considered a valuable addition to your qualifications
