We're looking for a Backend Python MCP Engineer to join our team in Portugal in a fully remote working mode. In this role, you will contribute to building an Enterprise Agent Development Platform – a cloud-native ecosystem that enables engineering teams to define, orchestrate, deploy, and observe AI agents at scale. You will be responsible for implementing MCP server templates, developing onboarding workflows for enterprise MCP servers, and supporting a robust template library and delivery service. This position combines deep Python expertise with protocol-level engineering, cloud-native deployment, and observability to ensure a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly experience for MCP-based integrations.
- Implement MCP protocol server-side components and reusable templates for enterprise onboarding
- Develop and maintain Python-based MCP modules using modern frameworks and asynchronous patterns
- Integrate telemetry instrumentation with OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, metrics, and logging
- Build and maintain MCP factory and delivery services to automate deployments
- Design secure, containerized workloads with compliance to security baselines
- Collaborate with platform and architecture teams to support CI/CD, governance, and observability standards
- Document MCP integration patterns and provide guidance for other development teams
- Optimize server performance and ensure reliability under production traffic
- Contribute to the automation of deployment with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing backend solutions in Python
- Proficient with asynchronous frameworks such as FastAPI or aiohttp
- Strong understanding of API development, integration engineering, and protocol-based communication
- Experience with AWS services including Lambda and API Gateway for serverless deployment
- Working knowledge of containerization principles and baseline security practices
- Familiarity with observability tooling and concepts (traces, metrics, logs) using OpenTelemetry
- Practical experience with FastMCP or similar libraries for MCP protocol implementation
- Understanding of LangGraph or agent orchestration frameworks for AI-driven platforms
- Exposure to AWS AgentCore Runtime or AWS Bedrock for AI and agent execution environments
