EPAM is looking for an experienced DevOps / Platform Engineer to join a high-impact engagement. In this role, you will work directly with key client stakeholders on strategic projects with significant visibility and business impact.

You'll be the go-to expert for cloud infrastructure, automation, and HPC workloads — someone who can both architect solutions and roll up their sleeves to build and operate them. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded engineer who thrives in a client-facing role, enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, and is comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment.

Req# 1106121264

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure, with a strong focus on networking, security, and cloud operations best practices
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (primary), with support for CloudFormation and AWS CDK as needed
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to streamline workflows and operational tasks
  • Architect and support HPC and parallelized compute workloads, leveraging Auto Scaling Groups, AWS Batch, and both CPU- and GPU-based compute resources
  • Manage and optimize S3 storage, including bucket policies, access limits, and cross-account access configurations
  • Build and maintain Docker images from scratch based on project requirements; manage container registries via ECR
  • Work with AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL), including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging for job runs, service utilization, EC2 usage, performance, and cost tracking
  • Configure and manage CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodeBuild; apply Azure DevOps knowledge where applicable
  • Partner closely with internal client teams (Cloud Ops, Cybersecurity, Network Security) to proactively resolve issues and stay ahead of upcoming changes that could impact the environment
  • Participate in change review meetings to anticipate and mitigate potential impacts
  • Translate business and user requirements into clear technical documentation and implementable solutions
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and bring forward ideas and recommendations for future solutions — then help design and build them
  • Build rapport and working relationships across the client organization to know who to contact for support when needed
Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including a solid understanding of security, networking, and cloud operations fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation; working knowledge of PowerShell and Bash
  • Solid experience with Terraform; familiarity with CloudFormation and/or AWS CDK is a plus
  • Experience with HPC or large-scale parallel compute environments (Auto Scaling Groups, AWS Batch)
  • Practical knowledge of S3 architecture, including cross-account access and usage limits
  • Experience with Docker and ECR, including building custom images from requirements
  • Working knowledge of AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL) and SQL query writing
  • Experience setting up monitoring, logging, and cost-tracking solutions for cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with AWS CodeBuild; exposure to Azure DevOps is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive, accountable, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Skilled at translating ambiguous user requirements into clear documentation and technical solutions
  • A service-oriented mindset — understanding end-user constraints and collaborating effectively with internal client teams to resolve issues
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient in navigating a large organization and building relationships with key stakeholders
  • Forward-thinking — able to propose and help design future solutions, not just maintain existing ones
