We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our team. You will produce clean, well-structured code, spot and address technical debt, and apply foundational best practices such as refactoring and modularity with a strong focus on core programming principles. Hybrid work model based in Quito. Availability to attend the office a minimum of three (3) days per week is required.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain backend services that power essential business operations and application functionality
- Engage in every stage of the software development lifecycle, spanning design, deployment, and ongoing support
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to shape technical solutions that align with business objectives
- Diagnose and fix production issues promptly and efficiently
- Take part in architectural conversations and offer input into key technical decisions
- Build solutions with an emphasis on scalability, dependability, and long-term maintainability
- Take part in code reviews to uphold consistency and quality throughout the codebase
- Produce documentation covering technical designs, processes, and solutions to facilitate team-wide knowledge sharing
- Look for ongoing ways to enhance current systems, processes, and workflows
- Keep pace with new technologies and industry developments to introduce fresh perspectives and improvements to the team
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Java development
- Capability to choose and apply suitable design patterns, justifying decisions and encouraging best practices
- Capability to design secure, resilient system integrations (APIs), handling versioning and applying appropriate messaging patterns
- Capability to justify and deploy cloud components, crafting scalable and efficient distributed solutions
- Capability to establish and apply sound version control strategies, resolving intricate conflicts and fostering collaboration
- Capability to design container-based solutions, streamline images, and handle orchestration and security
- Capability to build and maintain dependable automated CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality, traceability, and consistent deployments
- Capability to design efficient relational database models, fine-tune queries, and preserve referential integrity
- Capability to design NoSQL solutions tailored to specific use cases, balancing performance and consistency
- Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to confirm functionality and minimize code defects
- Foundational knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, covering system monitoring, alert recognition, and incident response per established procedures
- Clear communication abilities in technical settings, with the capacity to actively engage in meetings and reviews and explain work to other roles, tailoring messaging to different audiences
- Solid teamwork abilities, including proactive collaboration, prompt sharing of progress and challenges, flexibility across different working styles, and support for a positive team dynamic
- Excellent English communication skills (B2 level or higher)
Nice to have
- Capability to design end-to-end technical solutions aligned with business goals, factoring in scalability, resilience, security, and quality attributes
- Experience crafting secure solutions by applying security principles, safeguarding confidential information, and adhering to regulations such as PCI-DSS and GDPR
- Familiarity with Angular for building front-end interfaces that connect with backend services
- Understanding of GitOps practices for handling infrastructure and deployments through version-controlled processes
- Experience with OAuth for setting up secure authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Familiarity with Terraform for provisioning and managing infrastructure through code
