We are looking for a Mid- and Senior-level Automation Test Engineer to join a team modernizing banking technology in an agile environment. You'll lead test automation, build quality into delivery from the outset and raise the team's testing capability. Based in Wroclaw, Poland, you'll join the Communications Surveillance crew, working in autonomous pods within the Agile framework, where engineering excellence, collaboration, continuous learning and pragmatic delivery are core values.

Please note that working from the client's office in Wroclaw is required 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Own the quality and automation strategy for a cloud-native Azure solution using React, Java and/or Python, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, messaging, data pipelines and Azure data services
  • Turn user stories and acceptance criteria into executable BDD examples and promote TDD and testable design
  • Automate risk-based unit, API, contract, integration, end-to-end, accessibility and regression testing with Playwright or similar
  • Use GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted, agentic engineering, including custom agents, reusable skills and instructions, to accelerate test design, implementation, review, debugging and maintenance with human oversight
  • Embed quality gates in GitLab CI/CD
  • Coach the team on reusable standards, reliable diagnostics, flaky-test reduction and modern automation practices
Requirements
  • 5-8 years or more of relevant experience defining test strategies and maintainable automation architectures for complex applications
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript plus Java or Python, with production-quality framework and fixture design
  • Expertise in Playwright or similar, including cross-browser execution, API testing, mocking, tracing, reporting and parallelism
  • Background in BDD, specification-by-example and TDD, including concise Given/When/Then scenarios and developer coaching
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot using agent mode, custom agents, skills, repository instructions, prompt files and MCP integrations to build and maintain automation safely and efficiently
  • Sound AI engineering judgment to validate generated code, protect sensitive data, retain deterministic assertions and apply code review, security and governance controls
  • Experience testing REST APIs and distributed or event-driven services using contract, message and containerized integration tests
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, quality gates, deterministic test data, flaky-test management, accessibility checks and observability-based validation
  • Strong mentoring and influencing skills, introducing good practices through pairing, reviews and lightweight standards
  • Proficiency in English at a B2+ level
