Senior Linux Engineer with Managed File Transfer (MFT)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Engineer with deep expertise in Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway systems, combined with a robust background in Linux/UNIX environments, file transmission protocols, and automation development. This role offers a chance to collaborate directly with stakeholders to implement and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient file transfer processes.
Responsibilities
- Set up and configure CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway to ensure seamless file transfer operations
- Design automated MFT workflows leveraging shell scripting and Perl programming
- Configure Connect:Direct and file agent scripts to support automated processes
- Collaborate with network, firewall, and system administrators to diagnose connection issues using TCP/IP, FTP, and SFTP protocols
- Analyze business user requirements for file transmissions and architect scalable solutions
- Provide 24x7 operational support, including participating in an on-call rotation and performing scheduled maintenance during nights/weekends
- Assist in mentoring team members and uphold established engineering methodologies
- Engage with project leads to execute deliverables, while occasionally stepping into lead roles as needed
Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience with CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway in live environments
- Minimum 3 years working in Unix/Linux with application support and scripting (Bash/Korn Shell, Perl)
- Minimum 3 years of expertise with file transmission protocols such as SFTP, FTPS, and HTTPS, including encryption standards like PGP/GPG
- At least 2 years of experience with TCP/IP networking setups, troubleshooting, and MFT-related workflows
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting aptitude to resolve technical challenges
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments in high-pressure, deadline-driven settings
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on documentation
Nice to have
- Background in IBM Sterling Connect:Direct and associated workflows
- Skills in programming with C and Java
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and experience with GCS Bucket storage
- Understanding of cloud architecture principles and their relationship to MFT processes
