Senior Java Developer

We are looking for a highly skilled remote Senior Java Developer with expertise in AWS, SQL, Spring Boot, Amazon RDS to join our team. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, reading logs, and navigating Java code in addition to developing and maintaining Java applications. You will also be responsible for database change management, running unit tests, and end-to-end tests, and ensuring that the system's performance and scalability are monitored and assessed using Splunk for monitoring.
This role requires expertise in AWS RDS/PostgreSQL, and perhaps DynamoDb, as well as experience with testing techniques such as unit testing, end-to-end testing, and functional testing. You will be expected to design, implement, and test changes, working with support engineers to overcome impediments, and contributing to our knowledge base by updating documentation and designs.
- Develop and maintain Java applications
- Troubleshoot issues by reading logs and navigating Java code
- Manage database change management, including AWS RDS/PostgreSQL and possibly DynamoDb
- Run unit tests, end-to-end tests, and functional tests
- Monitor and assess system performance and scalability using Splunk for monitoring
- Design, implement, and test changes, working with support engineers to overcome impediments
- Contribute to the knowledge base by adding or updating documentation and designs
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in Java development
- Expertise in AWS, SQL, Spring Boot, Amazon RDS, and Jira
- Experience with database change management, including AWS RDS/PostgreSQL and possibly DynamoDb
- Expertise in testing techniques, including unit testing, end-to-end testing, and functional testing
- Experience in troubleshooting, reading logs, and navigating Java code
- Familiarity with performance and scalability concepts, including monitoring and assessing system performance using Splunk for monitoring
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English at an Upper-Intermediate level
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and EC2
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
