The role encompasses elements of development, operations, and support, aiming for seamless functioning of our systems. The ideal candidate will address both infrastructure tasks and routine maintenance tasks, ensuring high availability and excellent performance of our services.
Responsibilities
- Upgrade dependencies as recommended by Snyk reports to mitigate gem vulnerabilities
- Transition two Jenkins instances to Buildkite
- Conduct version upgrades for Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis
- Switch CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux 8
- Execute weekly security upgrades for operating system packages
- Provide 24/7 on-call support
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Apply principles of infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform
- Implement configuration management tools such as Chef
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain documentation and uphold system standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in DevOps or systems engineering roles
- Extensive software development skills with background in maintaining a SaaS codebase and its infrastructure
- Proficiency in the Ruby and Rails ecosystem
- Hands-on background in Linux systems engineering
- Skills in CI/CD methodologies
- Competency in infrastructure tools like Terraform or Chef
- Strong written communication abilities
- Flexibility to work remotely and participate in on-call rotations
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Elastic stack, Nagios, and Jenkins
- Experience with MySQL, MongoDB, and Nginx
- Capability to grasp CDN principles
