The chosen individual will undertake the maintenance and enhancement of our Swiftype product infrastructure while ensuring its performance, security, and capacity for growth. This role demands the management of on-call duties as well as seamless integration and deployment routines.
Responsibilities
- Upgrade dependencies according to Snyk reports to address gem vulnerabilities
- Transition Jenkins setups to Buildkite
- Update Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis to the latest versions
- Shift CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux
- Perform weekly security upgrades for OS packages
- Sustain and support the infrastructure which includes 24/7 on-call responsibilities
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines for operational automation and efficiency
- Engage in collaboration with team members remotely while ensuring robust written communication
- Showcase flexibility in handling multiple projects and adjusting to new challenges as they arise
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering
- Expertise in Ruby on Rails ecosystem or extensive history in SaaS infrastructure software development and maintenance
- Proficiency in Linux systems engineering
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or configuration management tools such as Chef
- Background in continuous integration and deployment methodologies
- Capability to efficiently manage on-call responsibilities
- Strong written communication abilities alongside remote work experience
Nice to have
- Exposure to Elastic Stack
- Awareness of Nagios functionalities
- Familiarity with MySQL and MongoDB databases
- Experience with Jenkins CI/CD tool management
- Use of Graphite monitoring tool
