The role integrates elements of development, operations, and support to guarantee the smooth functioning of our systems. The ideal candidate will manage infrastructure tasks and routine maintenance, ensuring high availability and peak performance of our services.
Responsibilities
- Upgrade dependencies as Snyk reports advise to rectify gem vulnerabilities
- Relocate two Jenkins instances to Buildkite
- Conduct version upgrades for Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis
- Switch CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux 8
- Implement weekly security enhancements for operating system packages
- Provide 24/7 on-call support
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Apply principles of infrastructure-as-code via tools like Terraform
- Deploy tools for configuration management such as Chef
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
- Update documentation and keep system standards current
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in DevOps or systems engineering roles
- Extensive software development expertise with a background in managing a SaaS codebase and its infrastructure
- Proficiency in the Ruby and Rails ecosystem
- Hands-on background in Linux systems engineering
- Skills in CI/CD methodologies
- Competency in infrastructure tools like Terraform or Chef
- Strong written communication skills
- Flexibility to work remotely and participate in on-call rotations
Nice to have
- Understanding of working with Elastic stack, Nagios, and Jenkins
- Familiarity with MySQL, MongoDB, and Nginx
- Capability to understand CDN principles
