Senior Accessibility Specialist

We are currently seeking a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to join our global team at EPAM. In this critical role, you will focus on the redesign of a comprehensive suite of products, complete with an array of widgets and tools. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that new design prototypes created by the UX/UI team adhere to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, playing a pivotal role in ensuring that all design and functional elements maintain the highest levels of accessibility. Your expertise will be essential in creating inclusive digital spaces and broadening access to vital services for a varied audience.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Accessibility Assessments on design prototypes and wireframes generated by the UI/UX team
  • Lead and manage the testing team during audits and evaluations to set accessibility benchmarks
  • Estimate the resources needed for Accessibility Testing, Auditing, and Analytics across various projects
  • Identify and rectify issues highlighted by the testing team with actionable solutions
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in all design specifications and prototypes
  • Provide timely review feedback and recommendations to maintain continuous compliance
  • Offer professional advice to clients on Accessibility implementation, remediation, and related issues
  • Handle client queries by analyzing needs, crafting solutions, estimating efforts, and presenting proposals
  • Organize and prioritize review findings to streamline effective issue resolution
  • Ensure adherence to Section 508 standards
  • Document and verify that design and functional requirements are WCAG compliant
  • Mentor and support the career growth of junior Accessibility Specialists
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consultancy
  • In-depth knowledge of HTML/CSS, particularly in terms of accessibility and WAI-ARIA
  • Proficient in applying WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, with the ability to provide impactful recommendations
  • Familiar with CI/CD processes and integrating accessibility features within product development
  • Experienced in conducting functional testing of web applications on desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
  • Adept with developer tools such as Chrome Dev Tools
  • Knowledgeable in assistive technologies like screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English, with a minimum B2+ level proficiency
Nice to have
  • Certifications in WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or completion of recognized accessibility courses
  • Proficiency in JavaScript
  • Experience in managing scrum environments in large-scale projects with multiple distributed teams
