Senior Accessibility Specialist

We are in search of a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to expand our global team at EPAM. The role involves refining an interactive legacy system used for searching and accessing diverse materials such as articles, books, and media content. The client intends to enhance the system to comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This role provides a significant opportunity to drive and shape the accessibility standards of a platform that is extensively utilized.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the testing team during audits and analysis to formulate accessibility specifications
  • Calculate the necessary resources for Accessibility Testing, Auditing, and Analytics across various projects
  • Identify and address issues noted by the team, providing practical solutions for their resolution
  • Collaborate with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in specifications and design mockups
  • Offer immediate feedback and recommendations to maintain continuous and situational compliance
  • Effectively relay accessibility-related information to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee the organization and prioritization of review findings to streamline issue resolution
  • Maintain adherence to Section 508 standards
  • Record and ensure that design and functional requirements are WCAG compliant
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of junior accessibility specialists
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consulting
  • Extensive knowledge of HTML/CSS, specifically focusing on accessibility and WAI-ARIA
  • Proficient in understanding and applying WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, capable of making impactful recommendations
  • Acquainted with CI/CD processes and integrating accessibility within product development
  • Experienced in functional testing of web applications on desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
  • Skilled in using developer tools such as Chrome Dev Tools
  • Familiar with assistive technologies such as screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
  • Strong analytical abilities coupled with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English, with at least a B2+ level proficiency
Nice to have
  • Certifications such as WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or having completed recognized accessibility courses
  • Knowledge of JavaScript
  • Experience in scrum environments on extensive projects with multiple distributed teams
