Senior Accessibility Specialist

We are currently seeking a remote Senior Accessibility Specialist to expand our international team at EPAM. This role involves critically reviewing a client's direct consumer site, which encompasses over 300 unique pages, offering remediation recommendations, verifying solutions, and producing a VPAT. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in setting and maintaining accessibility standards across extensive digital platforms. Your efforts will be essential in maintaining an inclusive digital environment that meets international accessibility standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide the testing team through detailed audits and analyses to develop comprehensive accessibility specifications
  • Evaluate the required efforts for Accessibility Testing, Audits, and Analytics across various projects
  • Identify and confirm issues reported by the team, providing effective solutions for resolution
  • Collaborate closely with the Development Team to ensure ADA compliance in all specifications and design prototypes
  • Provide timely feedback and recommendations to ensure ongoing and situational compliance
  • Efficiently communicate accessibility-related issues to both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Manage and prioritize review findings to facilitate efficient resolution of issues
  • Maintain strict adherence to Section 508 standards
  • Document and verify that design and functional requirements meet WCAG standards
  • Mentor and assist in the professional development of junior accessibility specialists
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Accessibility Testing and Consulting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HTML/CSS, with a focus on accessibility and WAI-ARIA
  • Proficient understanding of WCAG (2.0, 2.1+) best practices and techniques, with the ability to provide impactful recommendations
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and the integration of accessibility features within product development
  • Proven ability in conducting functional tests of web applications on desktop (Windows/macOS) and mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
  • Adept at using developer tools such as Chrome Dev Tools
  • Experienced with assistive technologies such as screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack, VoiceOver)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English, with a proficiency level of at least B2+
Nice to have
  • Certifications such as WAS, CPACC, or Section 508, or completion of recognized accessibility courses
  • Proficiency in JavaScript
  • Experience in managing scrum environments in large-scale projects with multiple distributed teams
