Lead Software Engineer - Backend (PHP)

We are looking for an innovative and driven Lead Software Engineer - Backend to join Feedonomics' fully remote Engineering team.

You will work closely with skilled engineers to design, implement, and optimize mission-critical infrastructure and services for our data-intensive SaaS platform.

Responsibilities
  • Build scalable and highly reliable applications and services to support business objectives
  • Solve infrastructure challenges with code and deliver effective post-release application support
  • Drive improvements in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for streamlined development and deployment
  • Collaborate with product owners and engineering leaders to define architecture options and deliver solutions
  • Analyze system failures and contribute to actionable insights that reduce recurrence
  • Champion initiatives for systems and infrastructure optimization
  • Identify and recommend tools, processes, and technologies to address business challenges
  • Leverage industry expertise to elevate engineering standards and processes
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in backend programming
  • 3+ years of proficiency in PHP (preferred), Python, GoLang, Java, or other backend languages
  • 3+ years of working with MySQL or similar database technologies
  • Understanding of database schema design and scalability principles
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP, RPC, etc.
  • Background in Distributed Systems and caching tools like Redis or Memcached
  • Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems and containerization tools like Docker
  • Skills in full-stack observability tools such as New Relic (strongly preferred)
  • Capability to analyze time and memory complexity
  • Expertise in DevOps practices (preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
