We are thrilled to invite a passionate and skilled Lead Game Tester to join our newly formed performance playtesting team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring an exceptional gaming experience for players by leading testing activities, mentoring others, and driving key initiatives within the quality assurance process.
Responsibilities
- Understand current and upcoming changes to the playtest schedule and anticipate team coverage needs
- Lead and manage testers' daily tasks to ensure the highest priority objectives are achieved and quality benchmarks are met
- Provide feedback and guidance to team members to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
- Track, analyze, and report team performance metrics such as activity, attendance, challenges, and escalations
- Assess and enhance the quality and effectiveness of testers' contributions to the project
- Lead staffing and recruitment efforts to build a skilled and adaptable testing team
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects or escalate critical issues that hinder project timelines
- Plan, oversee, execute, and communicate testing strategies and results to stakeholders
- Ensure smooth installation and operation of builds on consoles/mobile devices, while mentoring testers in these processes
- Provide robust knowledge transfers, lead onboarding efforts, and design upskilling opportunities for team members
- Proactively design and optimize testing workflows for teams of 5-30 or independently organize large-scale testing initiatives
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for QA roles by assessing technical skills, practical abilities, and leadership potential
- Ensure project documentation is comprehensive, clear, and supports evolving functional requirements
- Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to align testing standards with business and development goals
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software testing, with extensive exposure to game testing processes being highly desirable
- Demonstrated capability to lead and organize testing workflows for teams up to 20 members, with a track record of delivering results
- Deep understanding of project documentation creation, review, and the delivery of functional requirements
- Advanced expertise in Software Quality Control practices and in-depth knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Proven ability to design testing efforts, implement strategies successfully, and communicate outcomes to diverse teams
- Mastery of build installation and execution processes across various platforms such as consoles and mobile devices
- Experience designing and executing onboarding programs, knowledge-sharing initiatives, or specialized upskilling processes for QA teams
- Proven history of evaluating candidates' skills for QA positions, identifying strengths, and strategically matching them to project roles
- Passionate gamer with substantial hands-on experience across diverse game titles and genres
- Strong ability to balance onsite work during office hours and flexibly support occasional planned weekend overtime shifts once a quarter
- Exceptional ability to manage tasks independently, prioritize goals, and exhibit proactiveness in solving challenges
- Proficiency in taking ownership of testing deliverables, ensuring quality and timeliness of outcomes
- Strong discretion and judgment in handling sensitive and protected client information
- B2 or higher English language proficiency for clear and effective communication
