We are seeking an experienced Lead Database Engineer to take charge of ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical databases across multi-cloud environments.
In this role, you will play a key part in designing, implementing, and managing database systems that are essential to our organization's operations. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and Oracle databases
- Monitor database performance, identify and address inefficiencies, and implement optimization strategies
- Design and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability
- Develop and enforce robust database security measures, including access control and data protection protocols
- Set up and manage database replication, clustering, and high-availability systems
- Automate routine database tasks using scripting tools to enhance efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues to maintain system reliability and minimize downtime
- Document database architectures, workflows, and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to ensure database solutions meet application and infrastructure requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in database management and integration
- Minimum of one year of experience in leading and managing technical teams
- Advanced expertise in managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and Oracle databases
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python to automate database operations
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI to streamline deployment and integration processes
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible for managing database infrastructure
- Hands-on experience using monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack to track and troubleshoot database performance
- Knowledge of cloud-based database services, including AWS RDS, Azure Database, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong understanding of database security practices, replication strategies, and high-availability configurations
- Excellent English communication skills (B2+ level or higher), with proven ability to engage with clients to gather requirements and provide updates
