We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Database Engineer to oversee the performance, security, and reliability of critical databases in multi-cloud environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing database systems that are vital to the success of our organization. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong technical foundation, a proactive approach to solving challenges, and a deep interest in creating robust and scalable database solutions.
Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and Oracle databases
- Monitor and assess database performance, address bottlenecks, and apply optimization techniques
- Create and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to maintain data integrity and availability
- Establish and maintain comprehensive database security protocols, including access controls and data protection measures
- Configure and oversee replication, clustering, and high-availability database solutions
- Use scripting languages to automate repetitive database tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues to ensure system stability and minimize disruptions
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, workflows, and processes for knowledge sharing and maintainability
- Work in close collaboration with DevOps and development teams to ensure database systems align with application and infrastructure needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in database management and integration
- At least one year of experience managing and leading technical teams
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and Oracle databases
- Expertise in scripting languages like Shell or Python for automating database operations and processes
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI to optimize deployment and integration workflows
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible for provisioning and managing database infrastructure
- Practical experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack for tracking database performance and troubleshooting issues
- Knowledge of cloud database services, including AWS RDS, Azure Database, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong understanding of database security protocols, replication methods, and high-availability configurations
- Excellent English communication skills (B2+ level or higher), with experience in client-facing roles to gather requirements and provide updates
