Lead Database Administrator (DBA)

We are seeking a skilled and results-driven Lead Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team.
This role is central to maintaining, optimizing, and securing our SQL database systems while advancing automation, cloud solutions, and modern architectural strategies to support business growth.
Responsibilities
- Administer Microsoft SQL Server databases in both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures
- Automate database processes using Azure DevOps Pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code methods
- Enhance database performance through advanced tuning and diagnostic methodologies
- Establish disaster recovery protocols, high availability frameworks, and data retention compliance processes
- Implement governance and access controls to safeguard database environments
- Align database architecture with organizational goals in collaboration with development and DevOps teams
- Create and maintain documentation, including design specifications and standard operating procedures
- Deploy dashboards, performance metrics, and system health alerts to monitor availability
- Evaluate new database technologies and provide strategic recommendations
- Address database incidents and manage environment changes, including participation in on-call rotations
- Define standards and best practices for database management to achieve operational excellence
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members while promoting a collaborative culture
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with SQL and managing Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies, security configurations, and performance optimization
- Background in data warehouse design, handling large datasets, and data modeling methods
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Knowledge of SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS tools for business intelligence and data integration
- Competency in managing databases across both Windows Server and Linux systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQL
- Understanding of CI/CD frameworks and Agile software development processes
- Familiarity with database access control models like Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Strong analytical abilities and focus on operational efficiency
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to effectively work with technical and non-technical collaborators
