We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Cloud Network Engineer to join our forward-thinking team and take ownership of our hybrid infrastructure, seamlessly integrating cloud-based (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-premises network solutions (BlueCat). This leadership role will involve mentoring team members, driving innovative network solutions, and ensuring secure, scalable, and automated network operations to meet our evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the cloud networking team
- Design, implement, and manage cloud network infrastructure, ensuring scalability and security
- Lead the administration of BlueCat centralized DNS and DHCP management
- Oversee DNS records across cloud-native solutions like AWS Route 53, GCP Cloud DNS, and Azure DNS, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises solutions
- Define and enforce network policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices
- Monitor network performance, proactively identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure optimal availability and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing strategic direction and solutions that align with business goals and requirements
- Drive network automation initiatives using scripting and tools to enhance operational efficiency and minimize manual intervention
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and tools to improve cloud and on-premises network capabilities
- Lead efforts to develop, document, and maintain disaster recovery plans and strategies for the network infrastructure
- Stay informed on industry trends, potential threats, and evolving best practices in cloud networking and DNS management
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in cloud network engineering, with demonstrable leadership experience (1+ years)
- In-depth knowledge of cloud networking services, including VPC, VPN, Cloud Interconnect, and Cloud DNS
- Extensive experience with Cloud/BlueCat servers and DNS management across multi-cloud and on-premises environments
- Expertise in network security principles, risk assessment, and the implementation of security policies
- Advanced understanding of network protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Proven experience in IPv4 addressing, CIDR notation, and subnetting to optimize and scale network infrastructure
- Proficiency in advanced network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Terraform)
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as ELK and SolarWinds, including creating proactive monitoring strategies
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to synthesize technical details into actionable insights, especially under pressure
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead initiatives and projects in remote/distributed team environments, including availability for on-call rotation
- Fluency in English at a minimum B2+ level, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have
- Professional Cloud Network Engineer certifications in GCP, AWS, or Azure, with a proven track record in delivering enterprise-grade solutions
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) in hybrid cloud environments
- Expertise in network performance tuning and traffic optimization techniques
- Background in mentoring junior engineers or leading training initiatives within a team
