Lead Accessibility Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Lead Accessibility Specialist dedicated to ensuring seamless and inclusive customer journeys for all users.
This role will involve collaborating closely with the Principal Accessibility Specialist to enhance accessibility in digital products, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can effectively interact with our client's offerings.
Responsibilities
- Drive adoption of WCAG AA standards and government equivalents in client development and design processes
- Collaborate with Designers and Developers to adjust visual designs and code for compliance
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to guarantee secondary compliance and usability
- Conduct design and code level accessibility audits using screen reader technologies and provide actionable feedback
- Provide guidance on remediation strategies and screen reader testing to teams new to accessibility
- Develop and maintain metrics to assess accessibility health
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and support design and technical backlog
- Uphold the organization’s core values
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in accessibility and advocacy
- Minimum of 3 years in program and project management
- Strong emotional intelligence with deep empathy for users
- Demonstrated passion for disability advocacy
- Proficiency with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, Voiceover, Talkback, and Dragon
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools including axe, PAC3, and CCA
- Proven leadership abilities and experience mentoring teams
- Detail orientation coupled with excellent communication skills
- Capable of public speaking, handling conflict and prioritizing competing projects
- Education includes Bachelor's degree, IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, etc.), DHS v5 Trusted Tester certification, and PMP certification
Nice to have
- Background in using design and research tools including Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Mural, Axure, UserTesting
- Capability to analyze code for accessibility issues
- Competency in using Microsoft Office, Jira, and Confluence
