DevOps Engineer

Site Reliability Engineering, CI/CD, Chef, Infrastructure & Operations, RubyOnRails, Terraform, Elastic Stack, Graphite, MongoDB, MySQL

We are looking for a seasoned DevOps Engineer to join our team and help maintain the infrastructure of our SaaS codebase.

The role encompasses a mix of development, operations, and support activities to ensure our systems operate smoothly. The ideal candidate will perform infrastructural tasks as well as routine maintenance to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of our services.

Responsibilities
  • Upgrade dependencies as necessary based on Snyk reports to address gem vulnerabilities
  • Transition two Jenkins instances to Buildkite
  • Perform upgrades on Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, MySQL, and Redis to more recent versions
  • Move CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux 8
  • Carry out weekly security upgrades for operating system packages
  • Provide round-the-clock support on-call
  • Design and sustain CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Terraform
  • Employ configuration management tools such as Chef
  • Oversee system performance and address issues as they arise
  • Keep documentation and system standards updated
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in DevOps or systems engineering roles
  • Comprehensive software development history with a background in maintaining a SaaS codebase and its infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Ruby and Rails ecosystems
  • Experienced in Linux systems engineering
  • Expertise in CI/CD methodologies
  • Qualifications in infrastructure tools like Terraform or Chef
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work remotely and handle on-call rotations
Nice to have
  • Background in Elastic stack, Nagios, and Jenkins
  • Understanding of MySQL, MongoDB, and Nginx
  • Capability to work with CDN principles
